Thanksgiving

We had a really nice Thanksgiving with Margaret in town and some friends over for turkey dinner. Unlike the rest of us, Daniel didn't eat much on Thanksgiving (except dessert) but has really enjoyed the leftovers! He gobbled up turkey, sweet potatoes, cranberry relish and broccoli casserole.

No, not a lobster

Daniel was so enthralled with the new oven that he wanted to cook. He's not mimicing a lobster but just preparing to use the new oven!

New Kitchen - Almost Done

After 8 hours of work, the granite is in! The appliances aren't hooked up yet but it looks great.

Life without a kitchen

Daniel's had a bad cough for a couple of days and finally last night slept all the way through... Wow I wish we could go back to those days where he slept 11 hours straight with no interruption! Hopefully this continues! Tonight we have a family event at daycare and my mom comes tomorrow for a week. We're having our countertops redone this week -- they'll be done tomorrow! A week without a kitchen is tough but they were able to install the new microwave at the beginning of the week which is also a convection oven and it worked great. I had to test out the convection so I made a quiche and brownies and a frozen lasagne as I later realized that creating dirty dishes in the midst of this mess with no dishwasher or sink wasn't the brightest of ideas! Anyway, I'll take a picture and post it tomorrow so you can see the finished product!

So much for everyday posts...

Sorry it's been a few days since my last post. There's not too much going on. We had our Christmas pictures done this week and they turned out great. We purchased some for immediate family and we're also getting access to them online if you want to purchase more. Daniel was great and if I have any complaints it's that he was grinning so widely in all of the shots! What a ham! On another note, he's figured out that he can get out of the big boy bed so now periodically comes to the door and calls for us in the middle of the night. I suppose I shouldn't be bothered by it as beginning in January, I'll be up half the night anyway! Maybe he's just preparing us for that. Otherwise, Daniel's a riot. Tonight we were playing hide and seek -- another great Daddy idea! He would stay with one parent and count to 10 while the other parent would hide and then he would go find the hiding parent. He got a huge kick out of it. Simple things that are so entertaining to an 18 month old and it's so much fun to watch him giggle!!

Fun Facts

Although we knew Daniel was able to count to 10, recognize individual numbers and letters of the alphabet, he counted to 8 in Spanish last night. I think it's memorized more than actual number recognition but we know that he knows that '8' is 'ocho'. He had a great swimming lesson today, too. He's initiating jumping and swimming in the water and diving for toys at the bottom of the pool (with help, of course)!

18 months old

Daniel had his 18 month pediatric appointment on Wednesday. He weighs 29.5 lbs and is 33 1/4 inches tall. Growing doesn't seem to be a problem for him! The doctor also said he's doing great with his verbal and physical skills. He then warned us about the fact that we'll be facing the challenges of a two year old soon. Toward the end of the appointment, the power went out so we had to head back today to get the vaccinations. Daniel wasn't happy with that part but was a trooper!
