Vacation!

We just got back from a great vacation -- visiting friends in LA and seeing the International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque. The kids enjoyed LA as much as we did and made great friends with our friends' kids. We went to a fabulous park and left the kids with sitters while we enjoyed ND's first victory of the season at UCLA! From there, we went to Albuquerque and saw museums that featured rockets and dinosuars and of couse, saw the Dawn Patrol and Mass Ascension of balloons at the Fiesta. Getting up at 5:30 am to get there wasn't what we had in mind for vacation but it was soooo worth it. The pictures of all the balloons in the air at once really doesn't do it justice. You really don't get the full scope of it until you're on the ground with tens of balloons inflating all around you with tens more in various altitudes above you. Really, it's awesome. We also had some wonderful New Mexico food -- yummy!!

The trip did have some set backs -- I lost my wallet at the airport checking in at the outset of our trip. I did have my ID in my pocket but everything else had to be cancelled -- again, not ideal when you're paying for everything on a trip with credit cards... And the day after we arrived in Albuquerque, Kyra developed a fever and was just really out of sorts -- so the first day there was tough. Then I developed the same thing -- but could manage better than she. She seems to be doing better - although she was up every half hour last night -- not sure if it was the crib at the hotel that kept her up or the illness. It put a bit of a damper on things but overall, we had a great time.
