15 months old

Kyra had her 15 month appointment today and is doing great. She weighs almost 29 lbs and is 33 inches tall. She is in the >97% in both -- at least she's proportional! Daniel was like that, too, until he was about 2. She's saying all kinds of words -- flower, Basil, ball, book, Daniel, up, eat, milk, among others. We've taught her the basic signs for eat, milk, and more which she uses pretty well. She also has an ear infection -- amazing what can change in a week. She hasn't been nearly as fussy as last week but her eyes have been all goopy. A sure sign.
Daniel's also doing fine, too. He's anxious for his birthday!

Appointments

We've had a week of appointments... well, actually only 2. Daniel went to the dentist for the first time on Tuesday. He did really well and the pediatric dentist was fabulous. She gave him a ride in the dentist chair (up and down, back and forward) and offered bubble gum flavored toothpaste. Also, a box of toys to choose from. At least there are two places -- the pediatrician and the dentist -- that don't give lollipops for good behavior. He really was great for the cleaning and the flouride treatment. Kyra behaved, too. She did find the glove dispenser and took about 6 out to play with before they finally closed the boxes up... She had been a wreck for about a week -- fine and happy when she woke up but then a meltdown about 2 hours afterwards. Finally I took her to the doctor on Tuesday thinking maybe an ear infection or something -- turns out to be teething -- her molars are coming in. She has not been a happy camper but seems to be improving.

Our favorite new game is "Chase the Baby" where we all run around the upstairs chasing one another and giggling. It's loud and boisterous but good for everyone! It has recently resulted in horsie rides for both kids (not at the same time) on my back -- but both of them clamboring to climb up at the same time... Of course, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt...

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! Today we had a very nice morning -- getting up a bit early so we could do Easter baskets and breakfast before heading out to church by 7:45 in order to get a seat for the 8:30 service. The weather was nice and the kids were able to run around outside before church and entertain everyone as they arrived. They were so cute today. Church was manageable with so many little kids who all brought their own books and toys. Everyone just ends up sharing everything! After church, we headed over to the restaurant for brunch, which was lovely. The Easter Bunny was there, too. Daniel ate one muffin and spent the rest of the time hanging out with the Bunny. He was enthralled. Good thing we know the management (and the Bunny). Matt spent the afternoon AS the Bunny! And Daniel, too, as you can tell by the photo!

Easter Egg Hunt

Today we had some friends over for an Easter Egg hunt. We had 4 boys (3 year olds) and 2 babies (Kyra and a friend) and about 60 eggs hidden. It took them about 5 minutes to find them all... with some help, of course. Kyra had no interest really but the boys had a blast. And of course even more fun opening them afterwards. It was a really fun time!

Kyra's first haircut

Matt's been saying that Kyra needs a haircut for some time but I've wondered what I'd tell the stylist to do with it -- there's not that much but what was there was looking pretty scraggly. So today both kids went in for haircuts. Kyra had no problems with it. Attached are the "Before and After" shots. He was right -- she really did need a haircut!

Learning

Kyra is at my favorite age -- she surprises me everyday with what she understands. Two nights ago, we were getting ready for bed and I told her to close the door. She walked over and pushed it shut. Today, I said, "Let's go over to your chair to eat," and she walked over and tried to climb up into the chair. So adorable! Daniel, Kyra and I play "Chase the Baby" in the upstairs hallway and rooms. We all run/crawl around hiding, scaring, chasing and tickling one another. It's fun to see Kyra just laugh and laugh and to watch she and Daniel beginning to play together. Today she was holding him down while I tickled him. So funny!

The only recent pictures I have are of Kyra climbing into the rocking chair naked after her bath and reading a book -- very cute but not appropriate for the web. Daniel, of course, wanted one of the same.
