Blue Angels

This weekend is "SeaFair" in Seattle with hydroplane races and the Blue Angels performance. We're heading over to a friend's on Mercer Island so that Daniel can see the planes up close. It should be interesting because Kyra will probably fall asleep on the way over and we'll see if she'll transfer to a strange bed to finish her nap. We've all had a terrible cold and Daniel was up coughing most of the night and the Blue Angels are during his normal nap time so he should be a complete wreck by the time the show is over...

This morning we had a little makeup party -- here are some pictures. They love this! I've also attached a photo of one of our coyote friends.

Coyotes

We seem to have an infestation of coyotes in our neighborhood these days. Over the past week, we've seen them numerous times on our back hill and up in our yard. One was even in the front of the house in the street. I'm not really thrilled about this... especially when all the kids want to do is play outside... I've blocked off the deck with the play house and the picnic table so they can play on the deck but it's not the same as the pool and slip n slide. I called animal control who referred me to the Dept. of Wildlife who reminded me that a couple of years ago the good citizens of King County passed an ordinance that disallows the trapping of any vertebrate (ae?) -- which you may have heard me complain about before because moles are included in this ban -- resulting in parks full of molehills. Anyway, no one can do anything about the coyotes either... We've been contemplating moving anyway and I think this might be the last straw...

Kyra had her 18 month doctors appt yesterday. She's 32 lbs and 34 (?) inches. She's in the 97% in both height and weight -- yes, she's switching to 2% milk now and limiting starches. Other than that, she's doing wonderfully. I was talking with the doctor about her dramatic tendencies and he had her in his lap and cuddled her and said "But she's soooo sweet." I agreed but wanted some reassurance that the drama and crying (all the time) is normal. And it is. She also got 4 vaccinations which didn't result in a very happy baby...
