Double duty

I know, I've been negligent in my postings. After her Birthday, Kyra had her 2 year pediatric appointment and is doing great -- 97%+ in height and weight... at least they are equal... She is certainly two, if we didn't know that already. She actually responds with "no" when you ask her to do things... until she can determine how serious you are... But she is very funny. She loves to sing and to hassle her brother (but that's mutual).

Today we had two birthday parties... normally this is not something I would agree to -- but one of our PEPS friends had a pony ride party which I thought Kyra would love and then one of Daniel's best friends from school had a party at one of the bouncy play places -- and the times of the two parties worked out. So the meals of the day went as follows: pancakes and eggs, Cheerios and raisins, Pizza, birthday cake, Pizza, and finally another birthday cake. Oh yeah, and no naps -- although I was hopeful for some naptime during the drive between parties. But I have to say it was a very good day. Kyra loved the ponies -- rode three times and all by herself with no one holding onto her. Daniel loved the bouncy place with his friends -- it is really fun to see him have friendships with kids he likes. Kyra loved the bouncy place, too. There's a 2o foot slide that Kyra just kept climbing up and going down, over and over again. By the end of the bouncy place party, though, they were both pooped. I think everyone should sleep well tonight -- mommy included.

I also attended the Washington State Democratic Caucus on Saturday which was very interesting. The Democratic Party holds both a primary (mail in your ballot) and a caucus (show up and vote/persuade others to vote for your candidate) -- funny thing, the results of the primary have NO significance on the delegate allocation. So all the Washingtonians who dutifully mailed in their ballots have no influence on the allocation of the delegates -- Once people figured this out, record turnouts at caucuses... go figure. (NOTE: The Republican Party allocates half their delegates based on the results of the primary and half the delegates based on the results of the caucus). It was an interesting event with one woman very eager, with numerous printouts of internet articles as ammunition, to change my vote... Her rabid approach didn't sit so well with me (or others). Each to his/her own.

The photo is the kids playing in the rain in their new rain gear... adorable. Thanks, Rachel!
