Boating

We had an unexpectedly gorgeous Saturday -- it was supposed to be 65 and dreary and ended up around 75 and sunny. No complaints. We spent the morning at a local farmer's market and the afternoon on our friend Ken's boat on Lake Washington. The kids wore their life vests and really liked exploring the boat. The rest of us enjoyed a few brewskis in the sun!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there! We celebrated a Mother's Day weekend. On Saturday, we all went to the movies to see Horton. It was Kyra's first movie at a theatre and Daniel's second. She did pretty well. Today we went to church and then out for pancakes.
We're getting ready to list the house again -- which means I have to keep it clean all the time. I did get Daniel to help me the other day pick up all the small pieces on the floor by offering a penny per item -- he made 56 cents thanks to legos, tinker toys, and puzzles! I'll have to keep that tool in my back pocket as it worked pretty well.

Daniel's birthday

Daniel is 4 -- we had cake and presents on his birthday and then today a party at the Science Center. He enjoyed his presents -- he's been asking for "Better Batter Baseball" which he only knows of thanks to the big marketing box (TV) but was thrilled to get it and really enjoyed playing with it -- as did Kyra. They also both loved their new legos and Daniel's new alien towel. His party today was a blast. Lots of friends came and it was an Astronomy (or "Space" as Daniel would say) theme. The "teacher" helped the kids make rockets out of film canisters and then we went outside and shot them off. The kids loved it. After that, they made "space ice cream" with liquid nitrogen -- it's interesting to keep a bunch of 4 year olds (not to mention their 2 year old siblings) sitting still as the guy pours the liquid nitrogen into the bucket... It really was a blast, though.
